I love teaching constructions in geometry. Some teachers skip them claiming they are too complicated, but not me. We started the school year from doing some simple constructions and then we applied them to transformations. It is not just the skill of constructing a shape that matters, but also the thinking behind it. Students need to prove why their construction works.
After learning straightedge and compass constructions, we will be using GeoGebra to see how the constructions are done with the help of technology.
